After the removal of a tree on your property, a stump is left behind. We simply can’t cut a tree completely flush with the ground. To remove the rest of the tree, we offer stump grinding services. Our equipment will effectively chip away at the stump until it has been removed slightly below the surface of the ground. The stump is turned into a fine sawdust that is hauled away by our staff so you don’t have to worry about any residual mess after a tree has been cut down. You can then plant grass over the area. It will soon look like a tree was never there! Keep in mind, the stump and roots are left behind although the tree is gone.
You don’t want to leave the stump of a tree behind for too long. This can cause issues such as:
Growth of Smaller Trees
The stump is still in the ground where your tree once stood. The roots are below that stump. While the large tree isn’t going to sprout back up from the raised stump area, there is the chance that smaller trees might try to pop up around the root area. This can suck up some of the nutrients in the soil that may be needed for other nearby plants and trees. Grinding down the stump will prevent this growth.
Safety Concerns
A stump that’s raised up above the ground can be a big safety concern. Someone can trip over the stump if they don’t see it. You could also damage your lawn mower or other yard equipment if you hit the stump.
Attracting Pests
A vacant stump is going to quickly attract pests like beetles, ants and termites. It’s a good idea to get rid of the stump to prevent these bugs from making themselves a home.
An Unsightly Mess
Regardless of why you’ve cut down the original tree, the stump doesn’t need to remain. From a curbside perspective, a tree stump is simply an eye sore. If you start to attract pests, mold or weeds around the stump, the problem becomes even more prevalent.
